Burned Butter Shrimp
Perfect Holiday Appetizer
At the beach this year, I decided to treat the kids to some shrimp and try a new recipe that looked mouth-watering! This recipe is from one of my favorite recipe books, Food From The Heart by Heidi Matson and Ann Traffiie. These were a hit with my family!! And most likely, you will have most of the ingredients on hand, apart from the shrimp. So give it a try!
Shrimp:
1 lb. medium size(raw, peeled, deveined, 40-50 pieces per lb.)
1/4 cup butter (divided)
1/2 lime(cut in two)
Shrimp Rub:
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. paprika
Directions:
- To thaw: dump frozen shrimp in a bowl of cold water for 15 minutes. Drain well.
- Make rub.
- Heat frying pan on medium high.
- You will cook the shrimp in two batches.
- Melt 1/2 the butter(2 TBSP), till it turns brown around the edges.
- Sprinkle with 1 & 1/4 tsp. of the shrimp rub mixture.
- Cook for three minutes, and turn shrimp. Cook for three more minutes. If using cooked shrimp, cook two minutes.
- Squeeze 1/4 of a lime(1/2 tsp.) over hot shrimp. Stir. Remove from heat to serving dish. Wipe pan.
- Repeat steps 5-8.
This serves approximately 4 people.
